Steve Strickland  
 

Steve Strickland was born in Seattle in 1948. Raised in the region that is rich in natural subject matter, he was able to study landscapes that were later to be integrated into his art.
In his earlier years, Steve did extensive work in photography and art simultaneously. While in high school, this young promising artist won an award for watercolor in a national scholastic art competition.
Earlier study under Bryon Navillier helped Strickland acquire the ability to interlock designs and develop his expertise with pictorial organization.
In 1967, Steve entered the US Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the airing abroad the aircraft carriers USS Ranger and USS America.
In 1972, Steve studied graphics and design at Edmonds Community College, in Washington, thus expanding his creative capacities.
In 1973, Steve Strickland and an accomplished artist, Max Hayslette, joined in developing Olympic Graphics (known as Olympic Atelier on Bainbridge Island, Washington). There they pioneered an innovative new style of serigraphs (silk-screen), combining use of textures, painting, and photography, a unique way to unite technology with tradition, thereby creating a new artistic point of view.
At major turning point in his life came when he comitted his life to Jesus Christ, the result was an expanded freedom and expression in his art. Silence, harmony, stability, and grace now permeate in his art. This has resulted in art that is attractive to both the residential and design markets. Strickland art illuminates the common place and elevates it to an experience of simple beauty.
In 1979, Steve Strickland joined renown artist Ron Jones in forming Pargon Graphics. The two artist designed and pulblished editions together for two years. In the mid 80’s Steve formed Genesis Fine Arts
